BirdoTech at KSMC 2026 | Building Blocks for Drug Discovery

2026-10-09
From September 30 to October 2, the BirdoTech team exhibited at the 2nd KSMC Regular Academic Conference at OSCO, Cheongju — three days of inspiring exchanges with medicinal chemists and industry partners from Korea and beyond.

A highlight of the conference: our VP Kai Xu was invited to speak at the Luncheon Session on October 1, presenting "Application of Novel Building Blocks in Medicinal Chemistry and Process Optimization" — sharing how smart building block design creates value from drug discovery through process development:

🔹 SF₅ (pentafluorosulfanyl) — the "super CF₃": higher lipophilicity, stronger electron-withdrawing ability and enhanced metabolic stability — and, unlike CF₃-based intermediates, not classified as a PFAS, keeping it outside the scope of the upcoming EU restrictions.

🔹 B(Epin) boronic esters — a stability-upgraded alternative to conventional B(pin): near-quantitative recovery after silica-gel chromatography, with Suzuki–Miyaura coupling yields jumping from 0–2% to quantitative for challenging heteroaryl substrates.

A big thank-you to the KSMC organizing committee and to everyone who stopped by our booth. Let's keep the conversation going — reach us at sales@birdotech.com.
